Level 1:
Intellectual humility
Intellectual humility is the competence to recognize cognitive limitations and to take active action against them and their negative consequences.
There are different cognitive limitations which lead to irrational reasoning and decision-making patterns:
- Cognitive biases: Systematic and unconscious reasoning errors.
- Logical fallacies: Subtle errors in making logical inferences.
- Motivation: The gap between intention and behavior / action.
- Structural problems: Structures and processes that make people make bad decisions.
Intellectual humility means removing these irrational hurdles and deficits.
Level 2:
Rules of rationality
The rules of rationality are the concrete methods and tools for rational reasoning and decision-making in practice.
The rules of rationality encompass methods and tools on two important forms of rationality:
- Epistemic rationality: We are epistemically rational when we have good reasons for believing something.
- Instrumental rationality: We are instrumentally rational when we pursue and achieve goals in a utility-maximizing manner.
While intellectual humility means eliminating deficits in rationality, the rules of rationality are measures to actively build up rationality.
I – Red Team Challenge
With our Red Team Challenge, we question and challenge your strategies, procedures, and decisions – and point out problems that you didn’t even know could exist (Unknown Unknowns).

III – Workshops

The assessment workshop is based on our Rationality Spider. Participants gain in-depth insights into their strengths and development potential. This format is particularly suitable for teams, in order to identify strengths and blind spots at the team level.
- Know-how 1: The participants recognize their strengths and their potential for improvement on 6 dimensions of rationality.
- Transfer 1: The participants know which dimensions they want to strengthen in practice.
- Transfer 2: The participants have strategies at their disposal to strengthen rationality in practice.
In-depth workshop
Rationality Deep Dive
The Rationality Deep Dive is a deepening into a certain aspect of rationality. It can focus on one (or more) of the 6 rationality dimensions of Rationality Spider, on a concrete problem you want to solve in practice, or on the practice-oriented rules of rationality.
- Know-how 1: The participants can describe the problem(s) they want to solve accurately and precisely.
- Transfer 1: The participants develop practical solution strategies.
- Transfer 2: The participants develop an implementation strategy in order to implement the solution strategies.
